Comic artist Tom Cheney was born in Norfolk, Virginia, grew up in northern New York, and now lives in Hawaii. He has been contributing cartoons to The New Yorker since 1978 and, in 1985, received the Scripps-Howard Outstanding Cartoonist Award for his work in magazine cartooning.
